Imagine a Treasure Map — But at the Point There Is Not Gold, It Is a Black Diamond

Imagine a treasure map. But at the point there is not gold — there is a black diamond.
Truffles are called "black diamonds" for a reason: hidden underground, rare and valuable. For centuries finding them took experience, patience and luck. TruffleMaps changes that equation.
What is behind the map?
A treasure map is only as good as its X. TruffleMaps places that mark by combining:
- 🛰️ Satellite data — vegetation, moisture and land cover
- 🌱 Soil data — pH, texture and drainage
- ⛰️ Geology — parent rock and limestone suitability
- 🏔️ Topography — slope, aspect and elevation
- 🌳 Habitat data — host trees and ecological context
We don't just give you a map
A coloured map looks good but does not tell you where to start. We don't just give you a map. TruffleMaps tells you which GPS points should be checked first across very large areas — hundreds of hectares become a short target list.
A real field test: three areas, three targets, three findings
- Three different working areas were selected.
- For each, the GPS target was set by TruffleMaps before the field visit.
- The team navigated to the preselected points by GPS.
- In that validation exercise the target locations were checked on site with the truffle dog Tokyo.
- Tuber aestivum (summer truffle) was found at all three targets.
In a real field test, Tuber aestivum was found at all three preselected GPS target locations. Real GPS target, real field visit, real excavation, real truffle.
Watch the video
The video narration is in Turkish.
Model → GPS → Field → Validation → Real finding
- Model: habitat analysis for three working areas.
- GPS: one target per area set before the visit.
- Field: the team reached the targets by GPS.
- Validation: target locations were checked on site.
- Real finding: Tuber aestivum at all three targets.
This single test is its own result; overall field performance is a separate metric: an 85% successful excavation rate, based on targeted excavation results in TruffleMaps/TRUFON field work.
The dog is not the product — TRUFON HUNT is
Tokyo validated the target locations in this test. But the TruffleMaps product story is not a dog: today, field detection at the target is done by TRUFON HUNT. TruffleMaps sets the target, TRUFON HUNT detects in the field — see truffle hunting without a dog.
Unlike a treasure map, it learns
A classic treasure map is used once. The TruffleMaps map learns from every field day through the Model → Sensor → Evidence → Feedback loop. A patent application has been filed for this approach: Patent Application No: 2026/014888 (patent technology).
